Manjusri Enters the Gate
One day as Manjusri stood outside the gate, the Buddha called to him, "Manjusri, Manjusri, why do you not enter?" Manjusri replied, "I do not see myself as outside. Why enter?"

curiousity is the key to exploratory writing
tropes of exploration
*outer space/inner space (and the re-negotiation of these and other boundaries)
*restraint and balance (mantra: don't just debate...dissipate!)
topoi of exploration
"topoi," or "commonplaces," are the patterns that arrange and organize a composition.
We will experiment with these and other topoi of written explorations:
*causal composition: exploring ideas/issues/places/futures/etc often proceeds by relating information concerning cause and effect. This kind of writing builds on narrative (sequencing events/happenings) and definitional tactics (providing examples, establishing core concepts/categories, defining boundaries and anomalies). Important: prolepsis, counterargument, multiple perspectives/stakeholders
*description, derive, interviewing
*introspection
